Great News!!!!

Taylor applied for and made her school's Student Council!!! Yay, Tay!  She was so excited, she just called me from school to tell me.  So proud of that girl...she is amazing!  Way to go, girl!

Not much going on...

What can I say?  Even we have slow weeks every decade or so...Scott even had time to paint his train room last night.  James is coming this weekend to finish the trim on the door and then the only thing left to do will be to get air conditioning in there somehow.  (And build shelving for my food storage...eventually.)

Taylor and Shaylie are doing very well in school.  Tay is keeping up with her homework and staying on top of all her stuff.  She is picking up her flute quite well. And she is excited to get Soccer underway.  Shaylie is loving 2nd grade and Girl Scouts is keeping her busy too.  No sports or dance for her this year though.  We're still trying to find her Thing.

I still haven't heard anything about the job I'm hoping for...I keep calling and they've told me that it has been "put on hold" due to "turnovers" and they're looking over applications and I should hear sometime next week.  Only they've been saying that exact thing to me for the past three weeks.  Oh well...I was making myself sick and depressed worrying about it, so I've decided to quit stressing and just take it as it comes.  Hopefully, it will come soon.  I'll post as soon as I know.

Labor Day this weekend...we aren't doing anything...well, except for Scott's train room project....nothing fun though. ;-) Hanging out here...we might try to come up with something interesting.  Maybe a picnic or movie or something.

Next week, I'm playing secretary...I'm going to try to get appointments for the dog, the car, the kids, and the hubby and maybe even me...if I have the strength.

Beach Party

We had Shaylie's birthday party on Saturday!  We reserved the city pool for a couple hours and invited all Shaylie's friends and some of Taylor's to come and swim.  It was fun.

Grandma J. sent Shaylie some cute new outfits and with the $20.00 she sent, Shaylie went to Bear Mill.  Papa Strong and Grandma Pam sent a DS game which she loves.  Grandma Dawn got her a new bike and a marker/paper set.  Thanks everyone for your generous gifts! Shaylie loves them all!

Check out some pics...more to come in the online album soon...

First Day of School 2007

with-mrs-nelson.jpg new-clothes.jpg

The girls started school today!  Taylor was up bright and early (5:38) to ensure that her dream of missing the bus did not come true.  She made it in plenty of time!

Shaylie was ready an hour ahead too...she was begging me to go by the time 8:45 rolled around.  We took birthday treats to school to celebrate today!  Yay!

Big Week Behind, Big Week Ahead

Last week, Scott and I celebrated our 15th Aniversary!  We also registered Taylor for 6th grade, found out her schedule, and met all her teachers at Back-to-School night.  We also found out that Shaylie will be in Mrs. Nelson's 2nd grade class and her best friend Jade will be there too.  And, Scott took his train modules over to the County Fair to promote the new Science Center that is being planned.  He spent all day running trains and answering questions.

With all the comings and goings, Scott and I didn't get to go out until Friday night.  We went to Texas Road House and saw Bourne Ultimatum.  Both were really good.  Taylor is really excited about classes now that she's had a chance to meet all her teachers and get some information about the year. (Maybe a little TOO excited.) Shaylie got to meet her teacher too and see her classroom.  It should be a good year...

...which brings us to the week ahead.  School starts on Wednesday.  Shaylie's birthday is Tuesday, though we aren't doing too much celebrating until the weekend.  I will take treats to school on the first day, as this has become somewhat of a tradition.   Then, on Saturday we have reserved the Washington City Pool for a party with friends and family.

I am also expecting to hear from Dixie State College about an interview for the ETS job.  It's been almost a week and a half, so it can't be much longer. KOW.  I did have a dream that I didn't get the job. I was bummed.   Just in case, though, I also applied for a back-up job at Fossil Ridge in their Media Center.  Taylor has been praying that I DON'T get this job.  I don't get it...two years ago, it was cool that I worked in the computer lab..now she has to pretend she doesn't know me...Things sure change when the kid turns into a teenager.

Whatever the case may be, I'm sure we'll have more news for you next week.  Assuming there is a you...I'm still not convinced that anyone reads this blog anymore anyway.  If YOU do, then you might consider leaving a note or something.

Back from Camp...

mom-and-shay.jpg

Shaylie and I are back from camp!  We had such a good time!  We got there on Wednesday afternoon and immediately jumped into the Arts and Crafts projects.  We met our Cabin Mates and hiked in the rain.  We bunked with four other Mom/Daughter pairs.  They were all very nice and Shaylie made fast friends with all of them.

It rained most of the time we were there.  It was actually kind of nice...and on Thursday the thunder and lightning went away long enough for us to go out on the lake.  We canoed in the rain and got pretty wet.  In the afternoon, the sun came out and it got pretty hot.

Shaylie decided she would jump in the lake...in her jeans and t-shirt...to cool off.  It was a good thing she was already wet, because she and her friend, Sammi, got in a little canoe and Sammi decided to stand up.  The whole thing top-sized and dumped them in the lake.  It was pretty funny!

The last night, Shaylie got to participate in the All-Camp activity: the Miss Cloud Rim Pageant Workshop.  They made tiaras, and evening gowns (0ut of trash bags), practiced interview skills and learned a dance for their talent.  Then Shaylie led the whole group in the runway fashion show at the end of the evening.  When the counselors started to sing a good-bye song, Shaylie started to cry.  She said, "Why do they have to sing a sad song at the end? It just makes me sad to leave camp."  She is such a sweetie.  She really didn't want to go home.  We had a great time!

Taylor was busy while we were gone too.  She got a new Sixth Grade Do!  It's mostly brown now, with some red and blonde highlights.  I think it is adorable.  She is going to be the most gorgeous girl in the school!
