Car Trouble Again...

Our van is in the shop....again...for more expensive repairs.  I'm so very tired of pumping money into the big dumb van.  We need it and we can't afford a new one, so we really don't have a choice.  But I'm not happy and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Taylor and I are catching colds.  Not fun.  Mine hit pretty hard last night and tonight I feel like I could be in a NyQuil commercial.  She's not as bad, stuffy, but her youth and overall health are in her favor.  I'm sure we'll be fine soon.

Scott cancelled his trip up north, which I'm sorry about, but with the repairs to the car, he didn't feel like he could do it.  I'm grateful but I wish he could have his trip.

So, things have been a bit bumpy lately, but we're happy and we'll get through our hard times.  I have to count my blessing anyway, because things could be so much worse.   Scott will be home for his birthday, we'll all be better soon, and I'll be able to drive my van again....until the next time.

I got my first present, a new batter's jersey for the D-Backs!  She even put my name on the jersey!

It's Cookie Time!

Shaylie has officially begun selling Girl Scout Cookies today! I'm sure she'll be calling all the family but feel free to call her to place your orders too! Her goal is to sell 250 boxes.  (Or should I say limit? Yes, I should.)

Both girls are going to go to camp this year!  Taylor is earning money through babysitting and may join up again as an independent Girl Scout rather than with a troop.  She is not selling cookies though, except for helping Shay.  The camps they have chosen are at the same time, so that could be nice for us for traveling and such.  I'm still working out the details.

Scott's birthday is next week.  He will be turning 37.  He's planning to go up north with his train buddy Ralph to a show so we'll have to celebrate without him...jk, we'll probably do it before or after or sometime.

Anyway, not much else to report.  Weather's a little warmer down here, but I know I won't get any sympathy from all you frozen folks in the north.  Scott's the one who needs all the sympathy...he rides his bike even in the freezing cold.  So...love to all!

January 16th Updates

Just to clear some things up.

Mom, no new numbers, just new phones, the phone numbers stayed the same.

Dawn, no new TV, my cell phone has some TV watching capabilities on it.  My daughters can watch the Disney channel on it.

On The Biggest Loser TV show, the second week is always the worst. After the huge drops, most everybody barely loses anything, if at all.  That followed true with our weigh ins, I lost the most at 2.8 pounds, Tonya didn't lose anything, and Taylor and Anissa both gained.  Hopefully, next week will be a little better.

On a side note, I will pass 300 miles for the year on the way home from work tonight.  As long as my bike doesn't break, 3000 should be easy :)

Update

Ralph came to visit last night.  We ran trains and he got to play the Inglenook sidings game.  Nice to see him, although he may get tired of me, as he will see me at the end of the month to go to the train show in Lehi.

I got a new cell phone.  It is a Moto Q 9c.  My boss also bought us a data plan, so I get all my email and calendar on it and I can get the internet!  It has been really nice. Now I just need to find a way to carry it.  It is bigger than my older phones and it didn't come with a carrier.  Oh well, it is a nice phone though.

First weigh in

We had our first weigh-in tonight.  Between the four of us, 20.4 pounds were lost!  I had the biggest number change at 9.5 pounds or 3.93%.  I was very surprised.  I guess the 117 miles that I have put on my bike so far this year helped.  Hopefully, things will continue to go well on the weight loss front.

Had to get picked up this morning however.  I heard a hissing noise and down went my front tire.  Fortunately, I was near James' house and he was able to give me a ride into work.  Got the tire fixed and biked home.

Checking In

Not much to report.  I just wanted to let everyone know that we are well and the New Year is chugging right along.  We survived the BIG day in Primary with very few glitches!  The girls are starting up their classes again this week...piano, dance, Girl Scouts (cookie sales are starting this month!!!!)

Scott and I went out with friends on Friday. That was fun! It's been a long time since we did any thing "date-ish."  We saw National Treasure 2 (very good) and went to Applebee's for dinner.  Maybe we're starting a trend...who knows?

All our Christmas is put away...except for the things we forgot and keep finding around the house.  It seems like a long time ago now.  It won't be long before spring is sproinging down here.  My favorite time of year is always Feb-April.  Love it...

Anyway...post again soon.  Love to all!

Yay...New Year, New Phone, on my way to New Bod?

Well, I'm off to a good start with my resolutions.  I bought a new phone on Wednesday!  I would have posted about it sooner, but I've been playing with it too much to take a break.  I love it...an LG Venus.  It's so pretty and so many cool features, but best of all, I'm hoping it will keep me organized.  I am just figuring out how to sync my calendar with the phone, so I'll be Johnnie-on-the-spot (Joanie?) from now on...

I also joined the Gym along with Taylor, we went yesterday for a workout and met with a trainer "dude" whom I did not like very much.  He was very annoying.  But that makes it easy to say No to buying their services, even though I could probably use it.  Taylor is a good partner, she wants to go the the gym everyday so she'll keep me on my toes.  I'm going to pick her up after school each day and go straight over before Shaylie comes home.  We signed a two year contract so I have to make the most of it...

We're supposed to go sledding on Pine Mountain tomorrow but it looks like a big storm heading in...I don't have much cold weather gear for the girls so we might wimp out.  I don't know if our little car will make it up the mountain in a storm either so we'll see.  Both the girls have sleepovers tonight so I don't think they'll care super much.

Well, that's it for news...take care!

Happy New Year! 2008 is here!

Well, the end of 2007 has come and we are looking forward to an exciting 2008.  We rang in the new year in style.  We had a big party last night with most of our friends and about half of our family here with us (we missed the Denver and Orem clans.)  It was a New Year's party in the traditional style...tons of food, drink, games and fun.  We set up a movie in the big room, theater style.  And we capped off the night watching the First Night fireworks, which we could see perfectly from our front yard.  The kids ran around the cul-de-sac blowing noisemakers until Scott was worried someone would turn us in for disturbing the peace.  It was a fun night.

We woke up this morning (not quite afternoon) with Resolutions on our mind.  We all did our weigh in for Biggest Loser St. George...Anissa, Scott, Taylor and I are all heading for more healthy lifestyles.  I am joining the gym tomorrow and Taylor wants to as well, if they will let her.  I'm of the opinion that it is never too early to get in the habit of regular exercise.  So, if she can, I'll pick her up from school everyday and we'll go work out.

My other resolution is to be more organized.  I missed Shaylie's Christmas program at school last month among other things, mostly because I am busy, but also because I just didn't write it down and I had nothing to remind me to go.  I promised her that I wouldn't forget anything else the rest of this year. So, I had been trying to find a phone/pda that can help keep me on track, but Verizon won't let me buy a PDA phone (I liked the VX6800) without buying a Data Service plan too.   I know I won't use it so I don't want to buy it, but according to them there are no loopholes.  So now I'm looking at the LG Venus or Voyager.  They both have calendars that can sync with my computer and I am hoping that I can use it to keep me from losing my mind.  I like the Voyager, but it's main selling points are a touch screen, a qwerty keyboard for texting and mobile TV, the last two of which I don't care about.  Aside from those things, Venus has everything the Voyager has including a touch screen of sorts so that's likely the one I'm getting.  Now I just have to decide: pink or black?

My last resolution is to get things fixed.  I have to get my car fixed (again) and I'd like to get my back fixed (for the first time...again).  The car will be an easy fix, we hope.  I'm so tired of putting money into it.  My back may not be easy, but it is necessary. I'm tired of being in pain ALL THE TIME!  I would love to be able to look forward to going to bed and waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and renewed, instead of feeling like I was hit by a Mack truck in my dreams.  So, I'm going to embark on the adventure that is Modern Health Care and hope I come out the other side alive and Well!  Wish me luck!

That's it for us...We wish you a Happy New Year!  Hope things are going well for you and yours and that you have resolved to improve your lives, your situation, and the world in some small way.  Good luck to you and hope to hear from you soon!
